Otto Bach (pedagogue)

Otto Bach (born February 19, 1924 in Engers , Neuwied ; † August 10, 2010 ) was a German homeland researcher and educator . From 1963 until his death he lived and worked in Heiligenloh ( Twistringen , Lower Saxony ).

Life

Otto Bach grew up in Engers. After attending secondary school in Neuwied, he received his school-leaving certificate in 1943 . He was a soldier in World War II , then an English prisoner of war (until 1947). He then worked as an employee at the justice administration in Hanover and could not begin his studies until 1951. After completing his teaching degree at the University of Education (PH) Celle in 1953, his first teaching position was in Beber ( Bad Münder , Krs. Springe). The next station was the one-class elementary school in Duddenhausen ( Bücken ) in 1957 . From 1963 to 1986 Bach worked as a teacher at the elementary school in Heiligenloh and from 1970 as the head of the elementary school there .

In 1978 he founded - together with the secondary school teacher Friedrich Kratzsch - the city ​​archive in Twistringen , which both managed together on a voluntary basis until Bach's death in 2010 . From 1986 onwards, Bach became increasingly active as a local researcher and wrote numerous books and brochures on the regional history of the Twistringer region.
