The city archives Twistringen is for the Lower Saxony town Twistringen competent administrative archive . It was founded in 1978 and is located in the town hall, Lindenstr. 14th

The founders were the teachers Friedrich Kratzsch from the Twistringer Realschule and Otto Bach , teacher at the primary school in Heiligenloh . The latter headed the archive from 1978 to 2004, the former being Bach's successor. With the incorporation in 1974, the Heiligenloh school archive was transferred to the city of Twistringen. On this foundation, the two teachers founded the city archive, which Otto Bach continued to manage after his retirement in 1986.

In addition, there are sound carriers and films, including more than 75 audio cassettes with interviews on local contemporary history , an image archive with around 15,000 photographs, slides and digital photos as well as posters and placards. Finally, the older registry office registers were made accessible, and the church registers were partially made accessible in the form of copies, transcripts and photographs; they are accessible via name indices.

The library of the house comprises around 2,500 titles, including around 150 commemorative publications.

With the publications of the Twistringen City Archives , the house has its own series of publications.
