Gerhard Scharnhorst

Gerhard Scharnhorst (born March 16, 1915 in Harburg on the Elbe ; † January 31, 2009 in Nienburg / Weser ) was a German politician ( CDU ) and a member of the Lower Saxony state parliament .

Life

After graduating from the Adolfinum grammar school in Bückeburg in 1934, Gerhard Scharnhorst joined the military as a career officer. He was battery chief , regimental adjutant and was deployed in the general staff service; his last rank was major i. G. He was taken prisoner of war, from which he was released after two and a half years. After the end of the war he worked as a self-employed farmer in Bücken from 1949 . In 1953 he was elected to the council of the municipality and from 1964 he was a member of the district council. From June 6, 1967 to June 20, 1978 he was a member of the Lower Saxony state parliament (6th to 8th electoral period). He received the Federal Cross of Merit.

He was married and had two children.
