Georg Dietrich Leyding
Georg Dietrich Leyding , also Leiding or Leÿding (born February 23, 1664 in Bücken , † May 10, 1710 in Braunschweig ) was a German composer and representative of the north German organ school .
Life
In 1679 Leyding apprenticed to Jakob Bölsche in Braunschweig for five years . He then traveled to Hamburg and Lübeck to continue studying with Johann Adam Reincken and Dieterich Buxtehude . Soon afterwards he returned to Braunschweig to replace the sick Boelsche. After his death he became organist at the churches of St. Ulrich and St. Blasius, and later also at St. Magnus. For a short time Leyding took composition lessons from Johann Theile in Wolfenbüttel .
