Heisede is a district of the city of Sarstedt in Lower Saxony and is located 2.5 kilometers north of the city center of Sarstedt.

history

The place traces its history back to a settlement in pre-Christian times called Hesithi . Heisede is first mentioned in a document from the Corvey monastery around 850 . The church dedicated to Saint Nicholas is over 800 years old. Construction began in 1196 on the instructions of Bodo von Heisede . Bishop Berthold von Liefland consecrated the church in 1197.

In the hereditary register of the offices of Ruthe and Coldingen in 1593, Heisede was described as a church village with the so-called Junkershof, 5 Vollmeierhöfe, 4 Halbmeierhöfe, 14 Kötnerhöfe and 6 Brinkitzer places.

Heisede was incorporated into the city of Sarstedt through the territorial reform on March 1, 1974 together with Gödringen , Giften , Hotteln , Ruthe and Schliekum .

  • The St. Nikolai Church in Heisede was first mentioned in 1196/1197 as a wooden house of prayer. The current form of the building as a single-nave quarry stone church was built in the 14th century and subsequently expanded and changed in many ways. Many details, some of them very old, are also remarkable, such as B. a crucifix from 1450 or some old tombs in the outside area of ​​the church.
  • The half-timbered parish house next to the church was the old Heisede school before it was taken over by the church.
  • The old cemetery with some old tombs has been located in Dorfstraße since 1860.
  • Heisede has had a swimming lake since 1967, which was created from an abandoned gravel pit.
