Schliekum is a village and western district of the city of Sarstedt in Lower Saxony .

history

The place is first mentioned in 1265 as Slykhem . However, the Schliekumer Leinefurt was already used in the Bronze Age and this ford determined the happenings of the place over the centuries through related events. A memorial stone in the Leiniederung reminds of this.

Schliekum was incorporated into the city of Sarstedt through the territorial reform on March 1, 1974 together with Heisede , Giften , Gödringen , Ruthe and Hotteln . Before that, the place belonged to the Springe district .

politics

The local mayor is Wilfried Töttger (CDU).

Culture and sights

The Christophoruskapelle

In the village there is a kindergarten of the German Red Cross and the fire station of the volunteer fire brigade . The next elementary school is in Sarstedt.

A quarry stone chapel from the 15th century, the Christophorus Chapel, is slightly elevated.

Buckel stone paving, layered natural stone walls, well-tended cottage gardens in the town's pretty half-timbered houses and the view of the landscape of the Linen Plain are well worth seeing.
