Hilligsfeld is a district of the Lower Saxony city ​​of Hameln and the largest district in terms of area. It consists of the two localities Groß Hilligsfeld and Klein Hilligsfeld , which are located east of the city of Hameln and have a total of 912 inhabitants (as of 2016). The Hamel flows between the two districts . The federal road 217 leads through Groß Hilligsfeld.

history

The first known documentary mention of both places was in the 9th century, they were called Hilligsfeld and Klein Hilligsfeld at that time, variants were Hillingesfeldo, Hillingesfelden, Hillincesvelde, Hilliesfelde. At that time, the St. Bonifatius monastery (today the Evangelical Lutheran Minster of Hamelin St. Bonifatius) owned a Hufe land in Hilligsfeld.

Martini Church in Groß Hilligsfeld

Already in the 11th century there was a church in Groß Hilligsfeld which was consecrated to St. Martin of Tours (St. Martinikirche) and belonged to the St. Bonifatius monastery. Even the Gograf of Gogericht district Goe on Hamel was located here. From 1586 the village was assigned to the Office Springe by Duke Julius von Wolfenbüttel , from 1852 it came to the Office of Hameln .

On January 1, 1973, the communities Groß Hilligsfeld and Klein Hilligsfeld were incorporated into the district town of Hameln.

Culture and sights

The classicist Martini Church, built in 1816, was thoroughly renovated in 1989. The Evangelical Lutheran church has an early romantic organ that was built in 1839 by the court organ builder Ernst Wilhelm Meyer from Hanover . The organ was renovated in 1991 by the Hillebrand company from Altwarmbüchen .
