Afferde is a suburb in the east of Hameln . The originally independent village was incorporated into Hameln in 1973 . Afferde is the sixth largest town in Hameln in terms of area and, with 5049 inhabitants (2016), has most of the inhabitants of the Hameln villages.
history
Afferde has been inhabited at least sporadically since the Neolithic Age, as archaeological finds from various epochs show. The desert near Afferde to the east of the village indicates that the area was settled in the Middle Ages between the 9th and 11th centuries .
The place is mentioned early in a Latin document from 1042, in which Bishop Bruno von Minden confirms the donation of a court to the newly founded monastery of St. Mauritius. It is probably the court no. 3, seat of the noble family of the "de düthe" or "de Affordie".
In June 1912 the Wesertal power station was founded and a thermal power station was built .
On January 1, 1973 Afferde was incorporated into the district town of Hameln.
religion
The St. George Church was built in 1773 on the site of a previous church, which dates from around 1200. The incumbent of the rectory lived in the half-timbered rectory built in 1829. Today the parish Afferde belongs to the Evangelical Lutheran parish of Hameln-Pyrmont.
The Church of St. Monika was built in 1971 as a Catholic church. In 2009 it was profaned and subsequently reopened as a branch church of the Mennonite Brethren Congregation Lemgo . The need for this arose from the settlement of Mennonite emigrants from Russia in Hameln.

Afferde station
The place had a train station on the Elze – Löhne railway line . Since the place was around seven kilometers from the Bückeberg , this station was built with two sidings and sidings as part of the expansion work for the Reichserntedankfest 1935. The terminal building was built in wood and had two waiting rooms and a ticket office. A toilet building was built next to it, and the signal box technology for the train station and a barrier-free level crossing were housed in a further extension. A service apartment was built on the first floor of the building.
After the Second World War , the platforms that were not needed were dismantled and the station was downgraded to a stop. In 1964 the detention center was abandoned. The building was still used as a barrier post and block post. In 1977 the gatekeeper moved out of the official apartment, the house was burned and demolished in 1978.
