The Lok magazine is a German magazine about railways and published monthly in Geramond Verlag , Munich , with a circulation of nearly 12,000 copies. The editor is Rudolf Heym, the editor in charge is Florian Dürr.

The magazine presents new series of locomotives and interesting railway lines, provides information about new developments in rail transport and highlights current rail events in Germany, Austria and Switzerland in illustrated reports. Anecdotes and reports recall the past of the railroad. Since issue 1/2018, Lok Magazin has been focusing more on railways. In each issue, at least one route that has long since been closed is portrayed. The volume is currently around 114 pages.

history

Lok Magazin looks back on over 50 years of history. The magazine was founded in 1962 by Karl-Ernst Maedel as a two-month publication and published until 1971; it was published by Franckh'sche Verlagshandlung W. Keller & Co. until 1995. Further editors were Wolfgang Messerschmidt , Alfred Gottwaldt and Horst Obermayer .

The magazine has been published by GeraMond Verlag since 1995.
