Today Hastenbeck is a district of Hameln . It is located southeast of the core city at the foot of the elevation of the Schecken . Hastenbeck is known from the Battle of Hastenbeck in 1757 and Hastenbeck Castle from 1869.
history
Hastenbeck, also known as Hastenbike, Hastenbeke in old documents, means something like "Bach out of the bush" as a place name.
The place is first mentioned in 1197. The history of the village is closely linked to that of the castle. The Knights von Hastenbeck appear as the first documented owners of the castle . The von Hastenbeck family died out in the male line in the 16th century. In 1618, Duke Friedrich Ulrich sold the Hastenbeck estate and some surrounding villages to his minister Arnold von Wobersnow . At the beginning of the 17th century, Duke Georg enfeoffed Henning von Reden (son of Ernst von Reden ) with house, village, upper and lower courts in Hastenbeck. The old Hastenbeck Castle was completely destroyed in the Thirty Years War . In 1689 the population of the village and estate Hastenbeck was 192 people.
The Seven Years' War moved Hastenbeck into the focus of military events, whereby the outcome of the Battle of Hastenbeck on July 26, 1757 was momentous for the further course of the war. During the fighting, the entire place was destroyed by fires. Only the church, the manor house and individual houses remained. The oldest house in Hastenbeck is now a reconstruction from 1757 and is located on Bueckebergstrasse.
In 1823 the patrimonial jurisdiction of the Hastenbeck estate was abolished, which now came under the Grohnde office . In 1848 the village had 416 inhabitants and 58 residential buildings.
On January 1, 1973, Hastenbeck was incorporated into the district town of Hameln.

Buildings
Overall, the Hastenbeck manor church was furnished very generously and lavishly in relation to the village population at the time. The von Reden family has gradually added to the furnishings. It experienced particular enlargements during the time of the Adelheid-Sibylle von Reden, née von Bennigsen . She initiated and financed the construction of the bell tower, the organ and the organ loft, and the acquisition of the portraits of the Twelve Apostles and four evangelists on it. They probably also procured the entrance portal. The portal is in second use at the Hastenbeck church. It shows the coat of arms of the von Münchhausen and von Reden families . The place of first use is unknown. The altar, a very generous donation by Henning von Reden in 1688, is also called the "angel altar" because it was made with many angel figures. The altar survived the Seven Years' War almost unscathed. Only a cannonball from the French hit it from the east. The hole can still be found today.
