Arndt von Wopersnow
Arndt von Wopersnow (* May 24, 1573 , † May 31, 1621 in Hildesheim ) was a Braunschweig state official.
Life
Origin and family
Arndt came from the Standemin family of the Pomeranian noble family von Wopersnow . His parents were Carsten von Wopersnow and Margarete von Ribbesbüttel .
He married Lucia von Bortfeld († 1638) in Wolfenbüttel in 1603 . The marriage resulted in 10 children, including the captain Hilmar Statz von Wopersnow , who died tragically in 1633 .
Career
Wopersnow was the heir to Wendhausen as early as 1604 , Nettlingen was added in 1613 , and Hastenbeck , Steyerberg and Wellersen were also part of his estate . In 1607 he was lieutenant colonel , became at least to 1618 titular to Colonel and would later also as General titled. Also in 1607 he became Drost in the Moringen office and in 1615 Landdrost in the Principality of Calenberg . Finally in 1617 he became a Wolfenbüttlischer mint master or mint commissioner. In the following year he was named as a Privy Councilor and War Commissioner .
Under Duke Friedrich Ulrich, he played a very inglorious role as mint master in the so-called regiment of the disloyal Drosten around Anton von der Streithorst . The councils / Drosten pursued enrichment, fraud and counterfeiting of coins.
