Jan Koblasa
Jan Koblasa (born October 5, 1932 in Tábor , Czechoslovakia ; † October 3, 2017 ) was a Czech sculptor , painter , graphic artist , author of philosophical essays and university professor .
Live and act
Koblasa completed his studies from 1952 to 1958 at AVU Prague . He then went into exile in Italy for a few years .
From 1969 to 1997 he held the chair for sculpture at the Muthesius University in Kiel .
Together with Jaroslav Vožniak , Bedřich Dlouhý and Karel Nepraš he founded the artist group “ Šmidrové ”.
From 2002 to 2005 Koblasa taught as an honorary professor of sculpture at the Prague Academy of Fine Arts (AVU Prague).
Koblasa had exhibitions in many countries around the world. On the occasion of his 80th birthday, the Neues Museum Nürnberg dedicated a solo exhibition to him in 2012, and he was honored with a large retrospective at Prague Castle (in the riding hall). Koblasa's works have been purchased by more than 30 museums and collections.
Koblasa lived and worked in Hamburg and Prague.

- 1989 Prize of the Schleswig-Holstein State Industry
- 1995 Guest of Honor at the German Academy Villa Massimo, Rome
- 2002 1st degree medal of the Czech Republic for artistic activity
- 2003 Charles University in Prague Silver Medal for Lifetime Achievement
Works (selection)
- In Bílka (German Pilkau ), a district of the municipality Bořislav in the Czech Republic , the German-Czech friendship path was laid out in 2002. Under the patronage of Václav Havel , on the initiative of Ivan Nosek and Jan Koblasa, Czech and foreign artists created 14 statues that were placed along the path to the mountain and to Černčice . They should symbolize nature, the tradition of the area and friendship.
- The altar in Kiel University Church is framed by two messengers: “Fly I” and “Fly II”. They are on loan from the artist.

- Arabella. ( Marxgrüner Marble in Bavaria; 1983, at the Lübeck sculpture symposium) south of the east choir of Lübeck Cathedral
- Cathedral towers. ( Anröchter Stein from Westphalia; 1983, at the Lübeck sculpture symposium) in the churchyard on the north side of the cathedral
- Three standing. ( Bronze sculpture ; 1980/81, gift from Consul Dietrich Schulz for the opening of the Kunsthalle) in the forecourt of the St. Annen Museum
- In Neumünster there is the double sculpture David and Goliath ( Diabas , 1989) on the east bank of the Einfelder See .
- In the sculpture park Nortorf his work is five working days from boulders, boulders and stainless steel, 1989
- The works of Tempel (1982/1989), Schutzstein (1989), Vier Boten (1990) and Saint Sebastian (1991) are in the Gottorf Castle Sculpture Park .
