Dietrich Schulz

Dietrich Schulz (born July 24, 1932 in Prenzlau ; † August 5, 2013 in Lübeck ) was a German entrepreneur and patron.

Life

Dietrich Schulz was the eldest of three sons of a student councilor. The family fled to the West in 1945. After graduating from high school, he studied economics and social sciences at the University of Cologne . He initially worked as an auditor and management consultant, then in various management positions in companies. In 1968 he was awarded a Dr. rer. pole. PhD.

In 1977 he became a member of the board of the Possehl Group and later its spokesman until 1997. In that year he became a board member of the Possehl Foundation and chairman of the supervisory board of the Possehl group. From 1987 to the end of 1995 he was President of the Association of Schleswig-Holstein Business Associations .

He was involved in art and culture in many ways; In his honor the Dr. Dietrich Schulz Art Foundation , which he supported himself and from whose funds the Art Prize of Schleswig-Holstein Economy is awarded. Co-founder of the Association of Friends of the Lübeck Museums. For the inauguration of the Kunsthalle St. Annen in 2004, he donated the sculpture Drei Standingende by Jan Koblasa (created in 1981).

Schulz was the Royal Swedish Honorary Consul until 2001 , long-time Vice President of the German-Swedish Chamber of Commerce and since 2001 its honorary member.
