The Possehl Group with the Holding L. Possehl & Co. mbh was founded on May 1, 1847 by Ludwig Possehl with headquarters in Lübeck . She traded in coal and iron . The founder's legacy was passed on to a foundation by his son Emil Possehl . The company's headquarters are in the Beckergrube in Lübeck's old town.

Document management systems
The document management systems division generated 3.5% of sales in 2014. Böwe Systec , a hidden champion in inserting, cutting and mail sorting machines, belongs to him .
Printing machines
The printing press division generated almost 8% of sales in 2014.
Manroland web systems , one of the three leading manufacturers of web offset presses , has been part of Possehl since February 1, 2012 . The company emerged from the Augsburg plant of the insolvent manroland .
Precious metal processing
The precious metal processing sector generated 40% of sales in 2014.
With the takeover of the British jewelry supplier Cookson Precious Metals in mid-2013, the precious metals processing area has become the most important business area. In addition to Cookson, this includes the Heimerle + Meule gold and silver refinery . In 2018, Possehl took over another British precious metals processor, Weston Beamor Holdings Limited, based in Birmingham, through Heimerle + Meule .
Elastomer plants
The elastomer systems division (formerly Harburg-Freudenberger Maschinenbau GmbH) generated 13% of sales in 2014. The companies TireTech and Mixing Group manufacture tire building machines, extrusion systems, heating presses and screw presses. The Press + lipid Tech produces edible oil technology.
electronics
The electronics division generated 7.5% of sales in 2014 and primarily produces lead frames . Possehl Electronics is in second place worldwide for laminated lead frames (LamFrames). The company Possehl Electronics (Niefern) builds electromechanical components for Bosch (e.g. for ABS and ESP).
Cleaning machines
The cleaning machines division generated 12.5% of sales in 2014. To him, the company is owned by Hako , the maker of Multicar -Kommunalfahrzeuge. Cleaning and property maintenance machines are also manufactured under the Minuteman, PowerBoss and Multiclean brands.
