After the end of World War II, Max Böhler and Ferdinand Weber founded the company Böhler und Weber (later BÖWE) in a former cowshed in Augsburg. The American subsidiary Bell & Howell was taken over by the investor Versa Capital Management in the course of the bankruptcy in May 2011 and re-established as an independent company under its original name.
