The manroland web systems GmbH was a manufacturer of web offset presses . The company was founded in 2012 as a result of the insolvency of manroland AG and its split into two different companies for web offset and sheet-fed offset printing . From this split the manroland sheetfed GmbH arose . manroland web systems was a subsidiary of the Possehl Group until 2018 and, according to its own statements, had a market share of over 50% in newspaper printing presses and almost 80% in the business with machines for commercial web offset printing. In June 2017 the manroland web production company was spun off as a sister within the Possehl Group. This was active in the field of contract manufacturing for industrial customers. On March 1, 2018, manroland web systems and Goss International announced their intention to merge their web printing business; On August 17, 2018, both companies announced that the merger of their businesses into a new company under the brand name manroland Goss web systems had been completed. The two previous shareholders of the companies concerned, the Possehl Group and American Industrial Partners , remained involved in the company.
Merger with Goss International
In 2018 manroland Web Systems merged with the US web offset manufacturer Goss International to form manroland Goss web systems . The former Goss subsidiary Contiweb was not part of the merger and will act as an independent company after the merger. In addition, manroland Goss acquired parts from Harland Simon in the area of automation solutions and the Dutch company GWS. For the 2018 financial year, sales of almost EUR 300 million should have been achieved. The number of employees at manroland Goss is over 1000 worldwide, 650 at the Augsburg site.
