The Schloss Gottorf sculpture park is a sculpture park in the southwest of Schleswig , on the castle island in the Burgsee at the western end of the Schlei .

Project description

Gottorf Castle is the largest castle complex in Schleswig-Holstein and has been the seat of the state museums since 1947 . The State Museum for Art and Cultural History and the State Archaeological Museum are housed in its buildings. The buildings are surrounded by parks with sculptures. The oldest work dates from 1889, the youngest from 1995. Figurative sculptures predominate, abstract works have been added since the 1960s.

"... There are those positions that are important for North German sculpture as well as those that can represent and exemplify the lines of conflict in art development since 1945."
