The Nortorf Sculpture Park is located in the Nortorf City Park in the German state of Schleswig-Holstein . Sculptures by well-known Schleswig-Holstein artists are shown.
history
Nortorf's city park was laid out as a landscape park east of the city center between 1953 and 1956 . The park area is characterized by a mixture of different tree species, including oak , larch , silver maple , birch , pine and plane trees . At the initiative of the politician and art connoisseur Kurt Hamer , the Nortorf Sculpture Park was established there at the end of 1987 and the first 11 sculptures were erected. Some of the original works have been replaced and new ones installed. Today the collection includes 22 sculptures by 21 different sculptors of various styles. The Sculpture Park Nortorf eV association looks after the permanent exhibition with guided tours and public relations work.
For the 120th birthday of the writer Thusnelda Kühl (1872–1935), a memorial stone was erected in the city park on August 14, 1992 to commemorate the long-time citizen of Nortorf.
