Uwe Appold

Uwe Appold (born June 24, 1942 in Wilhelmshaven ) is a German graduate designer , sculptor and painter .

biography

Uwe Appold's artistic career began in 1962 with an apprenticeship as a sculptor and in 1966 with a degree in artistic shaping and design at the then Werkkunstschule in Flensburg (today: Vocational School for Wood Sculpture Flensburg ). In 1975 he went to Paris on a scholarship from the state of Schleswig-Holstein and in 1980 received the cultural award in his native Wilhelmshaven. After being appointed to the German Werkbund in 1985, he increasingly turned to the major occidental topics. Cycles on Prometheus, Perceval, Golgatha, Elia, Apocalypse, Crosswords etc. were created. Further stations were a work stay in the Chorin Monastery ( GDR ) in 1988 and a teaching position at the National Academy in Hangzhou / China for abstract painting in 1998 . His cycle Elia was shown in Celle at the Expo 2000 . Uwe Appold lives and works in Northern Germany, until 2006 he taught at the technical college for technology and design in Flensburg.

In 2018/19 Uwe Appold designed the case of the new organ in the St. Johannis Church in Adelby in Flensburg.
