Vocational school wood sculpting Flensburg

The Vocational School Wood Sculpture Flensburg (BFBi) provides initial vocational training to become a wood sculptor in a school form. In addition to the final school examination, there is a journeyman's examination in front of the Chamber of Crafts. The vocational school is a training course of the regional education center (RBZ) Eckener-Schule Flensburg and is located together with the technical college for technology and design at the location Schützenkuhle 20-24 in Flensburg .

history

The Vocational School for Wood Sculpture Flensburg has changed its concept and name several times. Its origins can be traced back to the state-supported college for cabinet makers and carvers founded in 1890. From this point on, the development of the Werkkunstschule Flensburg led to today's vocational school for wood sculpting.

The Flensburg furniture manufacturer and later museum founder Heinrich Sauermann recognized the need for trained specialists and founded an initially private advanced training school in 1872, which was then continued in 1890 as a state-supported technical school for cabinet makers and carvers. In the history of the school, wood sculptors have always been trained, who between the end of the Second World War and 2006 also had the opportunity to advance to become masters or state-certified designers at the Flensburg Technical School.
