The Technical School for Technology and Design (FSTuG) is a state vocational school that is assigned to the regional education center (RBZ) Eckener-Schule Flensburg. The school is run by the city of Flensburg. The school is located together with the wood sculpting vocational school at Schützenkuhle 20–24 in Flensburg .

history

The origins of today's technical school can be traced back on the one hand to the Royal Sea Steam School of Machinists founded in 1886 and on the other hand to the state-supported technical school for cabinet makers and carvers. A development led via the State Engineering School (1965) to the Flensburg University of Applied Sciences (1969), today the Flensburg University of Applied Sciences , or to the Technical College for Technology (1974) with the subjects of electrical engineering, mechanical engineering and marine engineering. The second line of development leads via the state technical school to the Werkkunstschule (1966) with the courses in wood technology, interior architecture and design. As a result of the educational reform of the 1960s and 1970s, the technical college and the Werkkunstschule were assigned to the vocational school, now RBZ Eckener-Schule, in 1974. The marine engineering department was outsourced to the Maritime College as an independent technical college. In 1994 the technical college was merged with the technical college for technology and design / craft art school at the current location in the Schützenkuhle. In the years that followed, FSTuG responded to regional needs by expanding it to include building systems technology, mechatronics and wind energy technology.

education

From the initial training to the state-certified technician or state-certified designer, a level is reached that is equivalent to the academic bachelor's degree in the German qualifications framework at level 6. The qualification for a university of applied sciences is achieved upon completion.

The technical college for technology and design currently offers advanced training courses in six subjects in full-time classes:

  • Electrical engineering (control and automation technology for electronic systems)
  • Building system technology (technical and organizational management of buildings)
  • Wood technology (construction and work organization in woodworking and wood industry)
  • Machine technology (development, planning, production control and quality management of machines)
  • Room design and interior fittings (draft, technical planning and preparation of interior fittings and furnishings)
  • Wind energy technology (project planning, operational management and maintenance management of wind turbines)

In addition, the subject of mechatronics is offered alongside work in a dual part-time model:

  • Mechatronics (technology of systems with mechatronic and electrical components)

profile

Field trips, work, lectures and projects with external partners should ensure practical relevance. Project work is an essential part of all disciplines. In cooperation with the Chamber of Crafts, the FSTuG offers parallel preparatory courses for the master craftsman examination part III and IV. Theoretical part II is also recognized for this in some disciplines. Additional qualifications such as REFA basic course, energy consultant or expert "Age-appropriate renovation" are offered regularly.

Students at the Technical College for Technology and Design regularly take part in various competitions, e.g. B. the "Robolympics" and "Wood moves". In addition, the FSTuG presents itself at regional and specialist trade fairs such as B. " Ligna " and "InServFM".

Support association

The Friends of the Technical School for Technology and Design was founded in 1983 and has existed since 2012 under the name Die Flensburger - Friends of the School for Technology and Design e. V. According to the statutes, the aim and purpose of the association is to financially support the technical school as an educational institution.
