history

The origins of the Eckener School go back to 1815. The school has been named after the brothers Hugo and Alexander Eckener from Flensburg since August 1, 2006 . On October 6, 2006, the renaming of the commercial vocational schools of the city of Flensburg to Eckener-Schule, the vocational school of the city of Flensburg, was officially celebrated with a ceremony. The school program of the Eckener School was first adopted in 2001. The Eckener School RBZ Flensburg AöR has been an independent vocational training institution for the region since January 1st, 2008. The school fulfills the state educational mandate of the vocational schools according to §§ 4, 8 and 88 to 93 SchulG-SH.

School offer

The educational offer is characterized by the demand for permeability and connectivity, so that the pupils find optimal support in an educational path that is suitable for them. All general school qualifications can be obtained in the various educational programs. In addition to the vocational school, the offer ranges from pre-vocational schools to vocational schools, technical secondary schools, vocational secondary schools and vocational high schools to technical schools. In the school types, a differentiated range of profiles and subjects from the fields of technology and design is offered.

At the two main locations in Flensburg in the Frisian Lücke and the Schützenkuhle there are rooms, laboratories and equipment that enable contemporary teaching with modern tools, machines and systems from the corporate world of work. Further locations result from the cooperation with two general education schools: the Central School Harrislee and the Comenius School Flensburg .

The RBZ Eckener School is part of a close network with companies, institutions and educational establishments in the city of Flensburg and the region. The trusting cooperation enables a differentiated dovetailing of the learning locations in the company and school and in the transition to studies.

The offers at the Eckener School are predominantly based on the professional fields of technology and design. The educational offer includes:

particularities

The Eckener School, like the two other regional vocational training centers in Flensburg, RBZ HLA - Die Flensburger Wirtschaftsschule and RBZ Hannah-Ahrendt-Schule, maintains cooperation agreements with community schools without upper level. This ensures that pupils who leave these schools with an intermediate school leaving certificate and who meet the admission requirements will make the transition to the upper level. According to the students' inclinations, profiles in the commercial-technical-creative, economic or social area can be selected from the offer of the three regional vocational training centers. Cooperation schools of the Eckener School in Flensburg are: Community School West , the Käthe Lassen School , the Comenius School and the Friholt School . In the district there are cooperations with the Schafflund elementary and community school, the Struensee Satrup community school and the Harrislee central school.

The RBZ Eckener School also regularly takes part in various programs that serve the school development. Examples are the future program work, the mobility project Erasmus + school education (2016) and the COMENIUS school partnership (2013–2015). The Eckener School is also committed to the mobility project "Boundless Vocational Training". Among other things, this goal is also served by the collaboration in the Interreg project InProReg. In addition, the school has been certified as part of the Zukunftsschule.SH program since 2015 at the “We work in a network” level.

At school and after graduation, students have various options. The Eckener School offers students career and study orientation, also in cooperation with the Employment Agency, in order to show the students a variety of possibilities and to support them in their selection. The quality of this advice is recognized with the award of the career choice SIEGEL SH (2017).
