The "performance competition of German crafts (PLW - Profis perform was)" is organized annually by the chambers of crafts and the Central Association of German Crafts . Craftsmen from each of the 150 skilled trades who have passed their journeyman's examination in the previous training year as the best in their class are allowed to participate. The chamber winners then take part in the performance competition at the state level and the state winners in the performance competition at the federal level. Traditionally, the Federal President is the patron of the performance competition. According to the ZDH, around 3000 bachelors take part in the performance competition every year.

history

The performance competition has been held since 1951. Until 2007 it was called the "Practical Performance Competition of Young Craftsmen (PLW)". The idea of a competition between the different crafts goes back to the Reichsberufswettkampf , which was held between 1934 and 1939. Since 1988, in addition to the performance competition, the design competition "The good form in craftsmanship - crafters design" has been held.
