history

Spraitbach, which was first mentioned in a document on January 3, 1296, originally belonged to the rural area of the imperial city of Schwäbisch Gmünd . In 1425 the place appears as a separate parish. Michaelskirche burned down in 1525 during the Peasants' War . In 1537 the free imperial city of Gmünd had a bailiwick built in Spraitbach with a later court seat. During the Thirty Years' War the village burned down almost completely, which is why it was rebuilt further west at its current location. With Gmünd the place came in the course of mediatization due to the Reichsdeputationshauptschluss at the beginning of the 19th century to the Kingdom of Württemberg , where it belonged to the Oberamt Gmünd since 1818 , from 1934 to the district of Schwäbisch Gmünd . In 1855 there was a great famine in the village due to a bad harvest. Spraitbach has been connected to the power grid since 1914. Between 1955 and 1966 the place was reallocated. The district reform of 1973 brought the affiliation to the new Ostalb district . In 1980 the Trögle development area was opened up . In 1996 the community celebrated its 700th anniversary. The Trögle IV building area was developed in 1998 and Trögle V in 2007 . Between 2000 and 2008, the Nassen-Lang industrial park was built .
