Heuchlingen is located in the Leintal on the edge of the eastern Swabian Alb between Schwäbisch Gmünd and Aalen . The Lein separates the community of Heuchlingen into two halves of roughly the same size.

The municipality borders in the north on Schechingen and the district of Laubach of the municipality of Abtsgmünd , in the east on the district towns of Aalen and Essingen , in the south on Mögglingen and Böbingen an der Rems and in the west on Iggingen and the district of Horn in the municipality of Göggingen .

history

Heuchlingen was first mentioned in a document in 1236 . Since 1603 the community belonged to the prince provost of Ellwangen . In contrast to the majority of the prince's provosty, Heuchlingen came to the Oberamt Aalen in the Kingdom of Württemberg in 1803 . Since 1938 Heuchlingen belonged to the district of Schwäbisch Gmünd , with which it became part of the district reform of 1973 in the Ostalb district.

The municipality of Heuchlingen is located in the rural area of ​​the Ostalb district between the large cities of Aalen (14 km) and Schwäbisch Gmünd (14 km). The total area amounts to a total of 903 hectares. The transport connections and the supply by public transport can be described as good. The next train station is only 4 km away in Mögglingen. The municipality of Heuchlingen is mainly a residential municipality, which is also known as the “Pearl of the Leintal” due to the wonderful landscape.
