Christian Scheffler (born July 5, 1954 in Dessau ) is a German organ builder .

Christian Scheffler did his Abitur at the extended high school "Philanthropinum" in Dessau. After completing his military service, he learned to be a carpenter in 1975 . His interest in organ music brought him to organ building. From 1977 to 1979 he trained as an organ builder at VEB Frankfurter Orgelbau W. Sauer , Frankfurt (Oder) .

During his work as an employee of the company, Scheffler completed a distance learning course at the Museum for German History and at the Museum for Musical Instruments of the University of Leipzig from 1986 to 1990 . The successful completion of his studies and the turnaround in the GDR gave him the opportunity to be self-employed.

He is in the Bund Deutscher Orgelbaumeister e. V. (BDO) , the International Association of Organ Builders (ISO) , the Society of Organ Friends e. V. (GDO) and the Friends of Church Music Frankfurt (Oder) . Christian Scheffler is married and has four children. His wife also works for the company.

Company history

On November 1, 1990, Scheffler opened his own workshop in a former LPG building on the estate in Sieversdorf . The first orders were the restoration of the Walcker organ in Sternberg and the Sauer organ in Markgrafpieske .

As the company expanded, it moved to the former distillery on the estate in 1997. The reconstruction of the building was awarded the Federal Prize for Handicraft in Monument Preservation in 1995. The internationally recognized company has created its own works in addition to restorations since it was founded. Concerts and cultural events are also organized in Sieversdorf. The organ building company is the guild of the district craftsmen .
