Bernstadt Castle

The castle in Bernstadt was built in 1549 by Georg Besserer , a member of a patrician family from Ulm, as a country residence. After the castle was destroyed in 1688, it was rebuilt in the Baroque style at the beginning of the 18th century. The castle later served as a school, kindergarten and housed people who were displaced after the Second World War. Today the Bernstadt Castle houses the municipal administration and the local history museum. Two restored stucco ceilings from the years 1720 to 1750 are particularly worth seeing.
