About this picture

Emeringen is a small community on the Swabian Alb southwest of Ulm in Baden-Württemberg ( Germany ). She belongs to the administrative community Munderkingen .

Neighboring communities are Rechtenstein and Zwiefaltendorf . The population is almost exclusively Catholic. The population development is declining (currently approx. 140).

Emeringen is the smallest independent municipality in Württemberg. The honorary mayor is Josef Renner (elected on October 10, 2010). The municipal council consists of eight members.

history

In 1292, Margrave Heinrich von Burgau gave the Zwiefalten monastery the right to own some of the estates in Emeringen for 45 ½  marks in silver, which Berchtolt von Dachsberg (servant of Count Heinrich von Veringen ) held.

Municipal council

The community council in Emeringen has eight members. It consists of the voluntary councilors and the mayor as chairman. The mayor is entitled to vote in the municipal council. In the local elections on May 26, 2019 , the local council was elected by majority vote. Majority voting takes place if no or only one nomination has been submitted. The applicants with the highest number of votes are then elected. The turnout was 88.2%.

The constituency of Emeringen had the highest turnout and the highest CDU vote (around 80%) in the 2006 state elections.

The Emeringers were often ridiculed in the area as "the Hummelers". In his humorous dialect poem D Hummeler , the local poet Michel Buck (1832–1888) relish tells the anecdote why they came up with this peculiar name.

According to SWR 3 (TV regional news from April 27, 2018), Emeringen is the municipality with the highest proportion of out-commuters in all of Baden-Württemberg. It is about 60%.
