history

Oberdischingen was first mentioned in a document in 1148. In 1343 it came under Austrian rule. In 1520 the barons of Stotzingen were enfeoffed with the village, who sold it to the family of Count Schenk von Castell in 1661 . Franz Ludwig Schenk von Castell , who became known as the Malefizschenk, set up his prison here . The most famous prisoner of the penitentiary was the well-known vagante and crook Elisabetha Gaßner , who was executed here on July 16, 1788. In 1806 Oberdischingen - like the entire area - became part of Württemberg . In 1927, the community acquired the "Rittergut Oberdischingen", which also included the "Chancellery building" (today the town hall). In 1960 the Oberdischingen exceeded the 1000-inhabitant limit.

Religions

In 1275 Oberdischingen becomes the seat of its own parish. Oberdischingen is predominantly Catholic.
