Setzingen is a municipality in the Alb-Donau district in Baden-Württemberg .
geography
Setzingen is located on the southern slope of the Swabian Alb on the edge of the Lone Valley , about 5 kilometers north of Langenau and 20 kilometers northeast of Ulm .
Neighboring communities
The community borders in the north on the district of Hausen of the city of Herbrechtingen in the district of Heidenheim , in the east on Öllingen , in the south on Nerenstetten and in the west on Ballendorf .
history
Setzingen is first mentioned in 1143 by Walter von Dillingen, Bishop of Augsburg, as belonging to the Anhausen monastery an der Brenz . Setzingen residents were also involved in the Peasants' War of 1525. During the Thirty Years War , the residents often flee to Ulm. In 1803 the place was added to Bavaria by Napoleon , seven years later it became part of Württemberg.
Religions
A parish has existed in Setzingen since the 12th century. The place has been Protestant since the Reformation .

Municipal council
The municipal council in Setzingen has eight members. It consists of the voluntary councilors and the mayor as chairwoman. The mayor is entitled to vote in the municipal council. In the local elections on May 26, 2019 , the local council was elected by majority vote. Majority voting takes place if no or only one nomination has been submitted. The applicants with the highest number of votes are then elected. The turnout was 83.2% (2014: 68.5%).

In the “Ballhart” forest area northwest of Setzingen, the Bundeswehr operates the “Setzingen ammunition store”. It consists of 35 bunkers with a size between 25 and 180 m². There is also a 55 m high directional radio tower made of reinforced concrete on the site (coordinates: 48 ° 33 ′ 27 ″ N , 10 ° 6 ′ 33 ″ E ).
Attractions
The Bartholomäuskirche in the town center is worth seeing. On the north wall of the nave there are frescoes from the 13th century. The baptismal bell from the 14th century and the wooden font from 1762 are also worth seeing.
