Neenstetten is a municipality belonging to the Langenau Municipal Administration Association in the Alb-Danube district of Baden-Württemberg in Germany .

geography

Geographical location

Neenstetten is located on the southern edge of the Swabian Alb on a ridge above the Lone Valley , about 18 kilometers north of Ulm and ten kilometers west of Langenau .

Neighboring communities

The community borders on Altheim (Alb) in the north, Börslingen in the east, Bernstadt (Alb) and Holzkirch in the south, and Weidenstetten in the west .

history

Neenstetten was first mentioned in a document in 1255.

The church initially belonged to Weidenstetten. After the Reformation , Neenstetten became its own parish. The early Gothic choir tower received its characteristic onion dome after the tower collapsed in 1730. The nave dates from the 15th century ; it has murals from that time.

Municipal council

The municipal council in Neenstetten has eight members. In the local elections on May 26, 2019 , the local council was elected by majority vote. Majority voting takes place if no or only one nomination has been submitted. The applicants with the highest number of votes are then elected. The municipal council consists of the voluntary councilors and the mayor as chairman. The mayor is entitled to vote in the municipal council.

After more than 26 years in office, Mayor Gerhard Staib was passed on June 30, 2011. In May 2011 Martin Wiedenmann was elected the new mayor with 94% of the vote.

Economy and Infrastructure

Neenstetten has developed from an agriculturally structured village to a residential and working-class community since the 1950s . Around 500 people are currently employed in around 25 full-time businesses. There are also 15 part-time businesses.

education

There is a kindergarten in Neenstetten, but no school. Primary school students go to the primary school in Weidenstetten, which is two kilometers away , while secondary school students attend the association's secondary school in Altheim. Secondary schools are located in Langenau and Ulm.

Honorary citizen

  • Gerhard Staib has been honorary mayor for 12 years and full-time mayor for 14 years (honorary citizen since June 21, 2011).

Born in Neenstetten

  • Eberhardt Renz (born May 1, 1935) is a Protestant pastor and was regional bishop of the Evangelical Church in Württemberg from 1994 to 2001.
