Hausen am Bussen is located on a hill south of the Danube , about 10 kilometers southwest of Ehingen (Danube) .

The community borders in the north on the city of Munderkingen , in the east on Emerkingen , in the south on Unterwachingen and Uttenweiler in the district of Biberach and in the west on Obermarchtal .

history

The town of Hausen am Bussen has existed since the 13th century. The nickname for Bussen comes from Hausen's proximity (approx. 10 km as the crow flies) to Upper Swabia's holy local mountain , Bussen . Hausen became part of Württemberg in 1805 and belonged to the Riedlingen District Office until 1938 , later to the Ehingen district.

Karl Traub (CDU) was mayor of Hausen am Bussen from 1966 to 2009 and at the same time honorary mayor of the neighboring community of Unterwachingen. Hans Rieger has held this post since May 2009 and is also mayor of the neighboring municipality of Unterwachingen.

Municipal council

The municipal council in Hausen am Bussen has eight members. It consists of the voluntary councilors and the mayor as chairman. The mayor is entitled to vote in the municipal council. In the local elections on May 26, 2019 , the local council was elected by majority vote. Majority voting takes place if no or only one nomination has been submitted. The applicants with the highest number of votes are then elected. The turnout was 82.5% (2014: 84.3%).

In 1987 the district office of the Alb-Danube district awarded Hausen am Bussen a coat of arms. The yellow house symbolizes Hausen, the green mountain for the buses . Key and sword come from the coat of arms of Obermarchtal .

Attractions

Side altar with Scagliola work

The parish church of St. Martin, consecrated to St. Martin, was built in 1617 on the foundations of an earlier chapel. One of the peculiarities of this church is the side altar with the Madonna in stucco mosaic (Scagliola).
