history

The written history of the Berghülen community began with the first documentary mention of the Bühlenhausen suburb in a deed of donation from the Ochsenhausen monastery to the St. Blasien monastery in 1100. Berghulen itself was first mentioned in 1304 when Count Heinrich von Tübingen donated it to the Blaubeuren monastery mentioned in a document. The existence of the sub-town meeting book was set to the time between 1087 and 1099 due to the monastery chronicle of the Blaubeurer monastery. In 1447 all suburbs came together with Blaubeuren to what was then the county of Württemberg .

Both in the Thirty Years' War 1618–1648 and in the Palatinate War of Succession 1688–1697 under General Mélac Berghülen was hard hit. In 1763 a large part of the village burned down due to carelessness.

On January 1, 1972, the previously independent community of Bühlenhausen was incorporated into Berghülen.

coat of arms

The coat of arms was awarded on November 17, 1938 by the Reich Governor of Württemberg, Wilhelm Murr .

Blazon : "In a shield divided by a wavy cut of gold and blue, a black stag pole above, below a floating golden three-mountain."

In the upper half of the shield, the black stag from Wuerttemberg reminds us that Berghülen, together with the current district of Bühlenhausen, became part of Wuerttemberg through purchase in 1447. The lower half of the shield makes the coat of arms “talking”, with the three-mountain standing for the first, the wave cut and the color blue for the second part of the community name (Hüle = village pond, cattle trough).
