Grimmelfingen is a village on the southern edge of the Hochstrasse that was incorporated into Ulm on April 1, 1926 . It is located about five kilometers southwest of the old town of Ulm. The district of the same name has an area of ​​2.85 km² and has 1152 inhabitants (December 2018). The village is formerly agricultural. Today, workers from the surrounding industrial companies live in the community.

On the outskirts of the village, the Grimmelfinger barley sands were mined commercially and processed in the construction industry for a long time .

Culture and sights

The Evangelical St. James Church shapes the townscape.

The Upper Swabian Way of St. James leads through the village from Ulm to Constance .

In 1910 the Beka music label moved 23 folk music songs by the “Grimmelfinger Bau-Kapell” to gramophone records.
