Söflingen is a district of Ulm in Baden-Württemberg .

history

The district in the southwest of the city was first mentioned in 1258. Sevelingen and Sewelingen from the personal name Sefilo are traceable as historical names around 1170/80 . For a long time, the place belonged to the rule of the Reichsstift Söflingen . With the secularization in the course of the Reichsdeputationshauptschluss , Söflingen was added to the Electorate of Bavaria . In 1810, Söflingen came under the Treaty of Compiègne as an independent municipality in the then Oberamt Ulm to the Kingdom of Württemberg .

It was incorporated into Ulm on November 6, 1905. At that time Söflingen had about 4,000 inhabitants; In 2012 there were 11,102 inhabitants. One of the most famous buildings is the former Söflingen monastery .
