Meinloh von Sevelingen lived in the middle of the 12th century and was a minstrel of the early phase of the minnelyric . He is one of the earliest poets whose songs are collected in the Codex Manesse .

Life

The exact life dates of Meinloh von Sevelingen are not known. It is believed that he lived in the middle of the 12th century. Sevelingen is today's Söflingen , today a district of the city of Ulm . The lords of Sevelingen were ministerials of the Counts of Dillingen that in 1258 the Poor Clares , the monastery Söflingen bequeathed.

Work and classification

Meinloh von Sevelingen is considered the oldest Swabian minstrel .

Commemoration

In Söflingen there is now Meinloh-Straße, and Meinloh von Sevelingen is immortalized on the community fountain as the famous son of the muse of the place. The primary school in Söflingen is called Meinloh-Schule; There is a fairground nearby, the Söflinger Meinloh Forum.
