history
Niederhofen is first handed down in the 11th century. 1303 Konrad von Niederhofen is mentioned as a feudal man of the Counts von Berg. At first Niederhofen was part of the rule of the Counts of Berg, later of Austria and of Berg-Öpfingen and from the 16th century onwards of Freyberg-Öpfingen .
The knightly place came to Württemberg in 1805 and initially belonged to the Patrimonial Obervogteiamt Opfingen, which the Princes of Thurn and Taxis bought in 1809 . The place finally came under direct jurisdiction of the Oberamt Ehingen when the princely patrimonial administration was abolished in 1849 . Presumably in 1811 the mayor's workshop Niederhofen with Pfraunstetten and Schwörzkirch was established .
