Hörvelsingen has been a district of Langenau since 1972 with 690 inhabitants today. The Laurenhof, the St. Nikolaushof and the hamlet of Witthau also belong to Hörvelsingen .

location

Hörvelsingen has a municipal area of 871 ha , of which 575 ha are used for agriculture . It is located at the transition from the Danube lowland ( Langenauer Ried ) to the Alb plateau around eight kilometers west of Langenau in the Alb-Danube district in Baden-Württemberg .

Hövelsingen is located on the slope of the “ Ofenloch ” hill in a hollow, the Hörvelsinger bowl , which was created by weathering cement marl. The two scenic dry valleys Laushalde and Hagener Tobel flow into this hollow . North of Hörvelsingen, also on the Ofenloch slope, there is a juniper heather that characterizes the town . Also worth mentioning are the nature reserves “Ofenloch”, “Ägenberg” and “Laushalde”, where many endangered and rare plants as well as animal species threatened with extinction can be found.

Hörvelsingen is thus located within an attractive leisure and recreation landscape , whose nature and landscape protection areas are often used as hiking destinations.

history

The place name comes from the 6th century AD and does not go back to a Herwig, but rather derives from "Hor-vil", a farm on the swamp .

It is assumed that the water-rich and fertile soil here has been continuously cultivated and populated for 6000 years. Remnants of the Urnfield Culture (1200 to 1000 BC) and Roman farms (around 100 and 260 AD) have been found in the area.

On February 29, 1972 Hörvelsingen was incorporated into the city of Langenau.

economy

In addition to 15 farms, there are several commercial and handicraft businesses, two inns, a brewery and a village shop in the village.

According to the zoning plan, Hörvelsingen is designated as a place with "proprietary development" so that the village character is retained. No more than four building sites are sold annually. Many residents work in nearby Ulm or Langenau.

Culture and club life

Hörvelsingen has a long -established Hörvelsingen plow brewery that can be visited. In addition, Hörvelsingen has a lively club life - especially in the local sports club, the fire department, the trombone choir, song wreath, rural women’s association and the local agricultural association.

Infrastructure

In Hörvelsingen there is a kindergarten and the oven hole hall (gymnastics hall) with a multi-purpose room and kitchen. Young people have their own rooms in the "Alte Molke AG".

The village shop was founded with over 100 founding members in September 2006 as a village shop cooperative, so that there is again a shop in the community. Approx. 1½ years later, the village shop was able to open on February 14, 2008 after extensive renovation of the former "old school" (Schmiedgasse 4).

religion

The residents of Hörvelsingen are predominantly Protestant , with the Protestant parish being looked after by the Protestant parish of the neighboring parish of Bernstadt , which offers a children's church service , youth groups and a regular meeting place for retirees with excursions and senior afternoons.

The Catholic parish is looked after by the rectory in nearby Dornstadt .

politics

The head of the village is Martina Röscheisen (as of 2014).
