Langenauer Ried is a nature reserve in the area of the Baden-Württemberg city of Langenau and the municipality of Rammingen in the Alb-Danube district.

Characteristics

The nature reserve was designated by ordinance of the Tübingen regional council of November 10, 1981 and has a size of 79.6 hectares. It is listed under the protected area number 4.053. The CDDA code for the nature reserve is 164347 and corresponds to the WDPA ID .

location

The Langenauer Ried area is around four kilometers east of Langenau, directly on the state border with Bavaria. It extends around two kilometers along a body of water known as a border trench. On the Baden-Württemberg side, it is completely enclosed by the 2788 hectare protected landscape area No. 4.25.006 Donauried and is part of the 918 hectare FFH area No. 7527-341 Donaumoos as well as the Donauried bird protection area , which is 4253 hectares in size . On the Bavarian side, the NSG 700.42 is directly adjacent to Leipheimer Moos . The Langenauer Ried is located in the 045-Donauried natural area within the main natural unit 04- Danube-Iller-Lech-Platte .

Protection purpose

According to the Protected Area Ordinance, the main protection purpose is the preservation of the remainder of a flat moor formation in the most varied of hydrological conditions with spring limestone hills, whistle grass meadows and Bult-Schlenken complexes as a habitat for the plant and animal species bound to wetlands, especially birds.
