Breitinger Schönrain is a nature reserve in the Baden-Württemberg community of Breitingen in the Alb-Danube district.
Characteristics
The area was designated as a nature reserve by decree of the Tübingen regional council of December 1, 2003 and has a size of 7.0 hectares. It is listed under the protected area number 4.309. The CDDA code for the nature reserve is 329299 and corresponds to the WDPA ID .
location
The Breitinger Schönrain nature reserve is around 500 meters east of the Breitingen community. It is located on a south-west exposed valley slope on the edge of the little deepened Lone Valley and consists of juniper heather residues, numerous bushes, individual trees and field hedges as well as a deciduous succession forest, similar to a Hudewald. The area lies in the natural area 097- Lonetal-area Alb within the natural spatial main unit 09- Swabian Alb . It is surrounded by the 3,161-hectare conservation area no. 4.25.103 Middle Lonetal .
Protection purpose
According to the Protected Area Ordinance, the protection purpose is the preservation of a cultural landscape that has been influenced by economic people for centuries as a living space and retreat for endangered, endangered and protected animal and plant species, part of the landscape of particular scenic beauty.
Particularly worth protecting are:
- the preservation of the remains of the juniper heather with valuable grasslands, bushes, willow trees up to the Hudewald and natural deciduous succession forest, to secure the habitat of the endangered flora and fauna, especially the butterflies of the dry, warm heather and forest edges as well as the characteristic bird species of the juniper heath and deciduous forests;
- the protection of the area against further development, afforestation and other intensification of use, in particular excessive leisure activities;
- the preservation of the area as an integral part of a biotope network and landscape development;
- the protection of the landscape-defining peculiarities of the juniper heath with transition to the Hudewald, which is a testament to the earlier economic methods of high national cultural value
