The Donaumoos FFH area is located in the east of Baden-Württemberg and is part of the European Natura 2000 network of protected areas . It was designated in 2005 by the Tübingen regional council.
location
The approximately 916 hectare Donaumoos protected area is located in the Donau-Iller-Lech-Platten natural area . Its 4 sub-areas are located in the municipalities of Asselfingen , Langenau and Rammingen in the Alb-Danube district and Sontheim an der Brenz in the Heidenheim district .
description
The nature of the landscape of the protected area is characterized by the fens and agriculturally used grassland. It is one of the largest fen areas in southern Germany.

Contiguous protected areas
The Langenauer Ried nature reserve is part of the FFH area.
The FFH area is almost entirely in the Donauried bird sanctuary . On the Bavarian side, the FFH areas Leipheimer Moos and the nature reserve 'Gundelfinger Moos' as well as the bird sanctuary Swabian Donaumoos are connected .
