The Danube FFH area between Munderkingen and Riedlingen is located in the east of Baden-Württemberg and is part of the European Natura 2000 network of protected areas . It was designated in 2005 by the Tübingen regional council.
location
The approximately 1433 hectare (ha) protected area of the Danube between Munderkingen and Riedlingen lies in the natural areas of the Danube-Ablach-Platten , the hilly landscape of the lower Riss and the Middle Area Alb . Its 14 sub-areas are located in the communities of Emeringen , Lauterach , Munderkingen , Obermarchtal , Rechtenstein and Untermarchtal in the Alb-Donau district and Riedlingen , Unlingen and Uttenweiler in the Biberach district .
description
The nature of the landscape of the protected area is essentially shaped by the course of the Danube with gallery alluvial forests and oxbow lakes. The rather poorly forested area is partly used intensively for agriculture, with grassland farming predominating. There are numerous rocks and quarries on the valley slopes.
