The Dead South is a Canadian folk - bluegrass - band .

history

The group formed in 2012 as a quartet with Nate Hilts (vocals, guitar, mandolin), Scott Pringle (guitar, mandolin, vocals), Danny Kenyon (cello, vocals) and Colton Crawford (banjo). Crawford left the band in 2015 and was replaced by Eliza Mary Doyle. Danny Kenyon is sometimes represented on tour by Erik “Del Suelo” Mehlsen.

In 2013 the group released the EP The Ocean Went Mad and We Were to Blame with five songs.

In 2014 her debut album Good Company was released on the German label Devil Duck Records. The album came in at number 14 (Canada) and 23 (USA) in the iTunes charts, and at position 36 in Germany. The video for the single In Hell, I'll Be in Good Company is very successful on YouTube .

In 2016 the album Illusion and Doubt was released and rose to number 5 on the Billboard Bluegrass Charts.
