biography

On December 3, 1963, The Four Renders won a band competition held by the Star Club, which opened in 1962 . They were the successors of the Rattles , who won the award at its premiere the year before.

Winning this competition meant the band members switched from amateur to professional. They were signed by Manfred Weissleder, the boss of the Star Club, and then not only performed in the Hamburg Star Club, but also in clubs all over Germany licensed as "Star Club", such as in Cologne , Karlsruhe or Nuremberg .

A sound recording of this event, which was recorded afterwards, shows three pieces of music typical of the period: " Johnny B. Goode " by Chuck Berry , "Hippy Hippy Shake" by Chan Romero and "Beautiful Dreamer" known from Bing Crosby . These live recordings appeared on a sampler from Ariola Records .

In 1965 the singer and guitarist Hermann Rugenstein switched to the Rattles . He was replaced by the Sharks' guitarist Wolfgang Korb .

The four renders ' only single , a cover version of the Drifters title “Under the Boardwalk” with the B-side “Long tall Texan” by Ernie and the Shakers , was released on the label “Star Club Records”, which has now been established .

At the end of 1966, the group temporarily disbanded. Ingo Lührs and Wolfgang Korb left the professional camp, Herbert Bornhold joined the Tonics .

The (new) Four Renders then continued with the following line-up until the end of 1969:

  • Marianne Rebesky, vocals.
  • Klaus Rebesky, rhythm guitar, org., Vocals
  • Volker Lindner, lead guitar
  • Jürgen Stapelfeld, bass, vocals.
  • Erich Götze, drums, vocals

Marianne Rebesky first became a teacher, but started a solo career around 70/71 under the artist name "Nina Martin". Klaus Rebesky trained as a commercial clerk. Volker Lindner became an architect, Jürgen Stapelfeld an engineer. Erich Götze went to the Valendras , with whom he is still active. After his time with the Tonics, Herbert Bornhold made a career as a member of the Rattles , Lucifer's Friend and the James Last Orchestra and as a studio musician.
