The Funnies

The Funnies was an American magazine published by Dell Publishing, which published comic strips in the late 1920s . It is considered a pioneer for independent comic books and magazines.

George T. Delacorte Jr. began producing a magazine called The Funnies in 1929 . The 16-page magazine was produced in four-color printing on newsprint in tabloid format and sold at newspaper stands. It appeared weekly on Saturdays in 36 issues until 1930.

Under the same name, Dell Publishing published a comic series in 1936, which appeared in 64 editions.
