The Gambia Scout Association (GSA) (German: Association of Scouts in Gambia ) is the national organization of scouts in the West African Gambia .

history

The voluntary organization was founded in 1921 and has been a member of the World Organization of the Scout Movement since 1984 . The co-educational The Gambia Scout Association had 18,448 members in 2008.

In September 2015, six Gambia Scout Association executives were arrested on charges of conspiracy to commit a felony, fundraising under false pretenses, and theft of a motor vehicle.

President

  • Alh. Alieu Ebrima Cham Joof (1924–2011) served the movement from 1938 to 2005; former President of the Gambia National Scout Council; Scholar of the history of the Boy Scouts in Gambia and the first Gambier to be awarded the Woodbadge .
  • In 2007, David Hafner replaced Alieu Mamar Njie as chief commissioner .

activities

Special activities include charitable projects like planting trees. Girl scouts and scouts regularly take part in camping and hiking. Music is also a very important part of the scouts in Gambia.
