The Joker's Jinx in Six Flags America ( Upper Marlboro , Maryland , USA ) is a steel roller coaster model LIM Catapult Coaster from the manufacturer Premier Rides based on a design by Werner Stengel , which opened on June 8, 1999. The manufacturer uses linear motors - marked with the abbreviation LIM for linear induction motor - to accelerate the train to 97 km / h within 3 seconds.
There are six roller coasters of this model worldwide, four of them in the USA. In the same year, an identical facility was opened in the sister park Six Flags Fiesta Texas with Poltergeist .
Trains
The Joker's Jinx has two trains with six cars each, each car with two rows of seats with two seats. Individually locking lap bars and seat belts are used as a restraint system. The Joker's Jinx was originally built with shoulder straps. For the 2002 season, the shoulder bars were exchanged for lap bars.
incident
On August 10, 2014, a train got stuck in the curve behind the Sidewinder at a height of 23 m. Nobody was injured. The passengers had to be rescued individually by the fire brigade using a turntable ladder .
