overview
The New Bill Cosby Show was designed to increase the popularity of Bill Cosby , who previously starred in a sitcom and drama series Rackets and Guns (with comedy elements). He also produced some of the most successful comedy albums of the 1960s. The show featured both white and black people, including Foster Brooks , Lola Falana (who also acted as the announcer) and a few people who had been comedy writers up to that point , such as Ronny Graham and Pat McCormick . Quincy Jones' orchestra provided the music. Part of the show were ongoing skits like "The Wife of the Week" and the adventures of "The Dude", a man who was so cool that nothing could worry him and who never lost his coolness.
The title track Chump Change was composed by Quincy Jones.
reception
The show had poor ratings due to Monday Night Football, which was broadcast on ABC at the same time, and was discontinued after one season.
For his performance on the series, Bill Cosby was nominated for the 1973 Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Series - Comedy or Musical .
