The Nine Stones

The Nine Stones (also called Coolasnaghta Stone Row ) is a row of stones in the townland of Coolasnaghta, northwest of Mount Leinster, south of Myshall in County Carlow in Ireland .

The approximately northwest-southeast oriented row of stones is low. The tallest stone about 0.6 meters high. The stones standing on a slope have rough surfaces. The age of the series has not been established.

There are various legends about this row of stones. It is said to be the burial place of nine chiefs, nine shepherds or nine rebels who were killed in 1798.

There is also a small rock in the townland with cup-and-ring markings .
