Myshall ( Irish Míseal ) is a place in County Carlow in the Irish province of Leinster .

history

In the center of Myshall on Church Road , surrounded by a cemetery, is the ruin of a pre-Romanesque church that is said to be the successor to a founding of St. Finnian in the 6th century. The church, which was probably destroyed by Cromwell's troops during the reconquest of Ireland (1649–1653), has a narrow, arched granite portal in the west wall . In the cemetery there is a large porthole with two cavities at the end.

Personalities

Finnian von Clonard is believed to have been born in Myshall in AD 470. He is one of the most important saints of the Iroschottischen Church and died in 549 AD in Clonard , where he is also buried.
